My life, with Mac

Not so long ago, my dad gave me his graduation gift – a Mac Book Air ’13. It was probably one of my happiest moments in life because I didn’t think I’d have one, but I did (thank you so much dad yeah!)

At first, I didn’t really like it since I still had to adjust with the keyboard differences, coming from good ‘ol Windows 7. In about 6 months though, I’ve finally migrated to it and had it used as my main working machine. I still kept my netbook, just in case I badly need it for Internet Explorer debugging (because, IE).

Fast forward 3 years, after a few mishaps as well (had to send it off for ssd repair once) and one reformat on my own (which was a big leap for being a Mac user for me) it’s still my buddy with blogging and work.

Sorry for the long story, but here I wanted to point out something – it’s very true when they say, once you go Mac, you never go back. I have updated my netbook to Windows 10 but I use it 10% out of the 100% of my time.

I guess it’s just me as well changing tastes and preferences, but I truly hope me and this Mac will last more years!

Was looking up the Android N’s name (next to the last latest OS) but decided to just jot down all Android OS’ name as it’s truly interesting in their own ways. Well, here they are:

N is apparently still not announced yet. Makes me wonder. Nata de Coco? Others suggested Nerds and Nutella. More fun ideas here!

Hello Windows 10!

So, last month – I decided to finally join the bandwagon of Windows 10 users. I know, I know, it’s very much delayed. But as usual I wanted to see stability and reviews thoroughly before I upgraded my good ‘ol Windows 7. It has been about 7 to 8 years most probably since I switched from Windows XP which is now finally dead. Moving on, I say adios to those, and say hello to Windows 10 after much deciding for over 6 months or so.

Hello Windows 10

What I love so far:

What I love most is the simplicity of the new look – as I was not very much of a fan of Windows 8 I skipped that and decided to wait…and I’m so happy I did so I didn’t have to go through that. While I wasn’t a fan, I’m sure many have grown into Windows 8 so don’t fret because you can still use that interface (having the tablet interface available anytime you want it).

It’s also evidently faster than Windows 7, although I’m guessing me having too many programs and files played a part in it being slow for me. I did upgrade first and experience the feel while it was indeed still filled with files vs. when I did a clean upgrade (reformat!)

Upon loading Windows 10, if you just upgraded it also automatically removes any application that is not compatible with it so, do keep in mind to make sure you’ve checked any essential application if it is already made compatible with it or not or else…begone!

The battery life has also increased a lot! But again, the programs I’m currently using may have played some part. In my current setup, I only have about 10 applications installed (still lazy to install others lol) I was impressed this one time though, I thought it had completely turned off after running out of battery, I charged it thinking it was charging in its off state. Deciding to use it again I was surprised to find out my installation just continued and it was on sleep mode.

Twitter app and Facebook App! Yes :D

Twitter app and Facebook App! Yes 😀

I also love Twitter and Facebook app being around! It makes you more organized and focused so you don’t have those two opened on your working internet browser – thus, less distraction. Microsoft Edge isn’t so bad as well, for me at least, but I’d definitely like more extensions and improvements first before I make it my primary internet browser (at least we can now say goodbye to Internet Explorer)

But if there are things I love, there are also some few things I hate so far:

First and foremost, the title bars.

They are plain white! I guess this was Microsoft’s intention to go with the flow of “flat” style in accordance to Mac OS systems. Fortunately, you can rely onto Aero Glass for Windows 8+. It’s a must if you can’t live without that title bar aero glass effect from Windows 7 (and coming from Windows 7, I’d say you will want it). Free version will have a watermark though. Donation starts at about $3 though so that you can get rid of it or be given a key.

Automatic Updates, yikes!

Updates in general are a must, but there are times that they also break your OS. It is said that if you have the Basic and Home version of Windows 10 updates cannot be controlled and so are restarts. I did find some way it maybe stopped for awhile so I guess I can live with that.

I’d say, so far so good! I only have a few complaints which I can live with anyway so I’m going to use this for good (Windows 10) and I hope that goes for you all as well 🙂

Some songs are nostalgic.

Have you ever felt kind of nostalgic suddenly when you hear a song? A few days ago, I heard this song due to a video of Sims 3 that I was looking into and it was apparently a song in Harvest moon(?)

Don’t you feel nostalgic? I guess you will, if you watch too much anime in your life time. But the song is really catchy. It feels like I have seen this one in a commercial before.

Just another Google post: Google, evolved!

Google is no longer just a company but a verb, as they say 🙂

Imagine how much has changed together with Google and technology for so many years! And it goes on and on.

In line with this is a new logo as well! After being absored to their new main company. Way to go Google! I wonder how much can change in a few years from now. They see so much in our future!
