Things about the latest WordPress Update I don’t like

WordPress updates consistently these days. I bet it’s because of the bugs and for security purposes. They also improve some features every now and then.

However, in their last updates I really dislike some of the changes:

  • New Media Uploader is nice, but when uploading through a URL of image – You need to edit the “Title” first rather than after, plus you can’t edit the position right away. This should have been improved or something :/
  • Page/Post Preview opens within the same window unlike before that it opens in a new tab. To me, I think it’s more convenient that it is opened in a new tab so you’ll just re-save your post and refresh the other opened new tab/window. That way changing isn’t much of a hassle because you see what changes easily.

In truth, I haven’t explored much since I no longer blog that much, but I really think these are some important points for bloggers. There were also reports to me from some blogger friends and hosting clients about corrupt updates. That doesn’t sound cool as well. But, it’s good mine updated smoothly. How’s your experience with the latest WordPress so far?

UnGoogled :(

UnGoogled. I don’t know if such term actually exists. But anyway, a client has been telling me how his website is not being indexed by Google anymore – while there were some DNS problems with the host.

I was actually confident i was nothing and timely, Google has updated page ranks. However, I checked this site too and it seems, that other than getting a PR 0 so suddenly despite its well indexed content…it was no longer indexed by Google..at all! Like my clients’ which really worried me. But well, at the moment I am totally blank what  to do, move this maybe?

Argh, hope it gets fixed somehow…which doesn’t take a month >.>

WordPress 3.4.1 Trouble

One of my blogs is currently under demise because I’m only getting an error page even if I have re-installed WordPress in it or reverted back to an old version.

It’s really annoying because I can’t seem to find any solution despite Google’s amazing searching powers. Can anyone help? :/

My last resort is to use the xml back up instead but it’s really trouble some doing so =/ I remember being able to fix this one but I totally forgot how now.

 

Edit: It was because of my Maintenance Plugin that was turned on :) )

WordPress 3.4.1

Version 3.4.1 addressed some security issues and fixed 21 bugs. For more information, see the release notes.

Yes, apparently there’s another WordPress update out. So you should update your wordpress blogs now to stay secured. Also, don’t forget to make sure your wordpress files aren’t using chmod 777 for file permissions, it will mean lots of trouble because it makes your wordpress files vulnerable to nasty hackers.

To update, simply click the link at the upper part of your wordpress dashboard (wp-admin) and then you’re set! Make sure to back up too, just in case ;)

WordPress 3.1.4

Just updated JQ to the latest WordPress 3.1.4. I’m not sure if it was yesterday that it was given out but I upgraded my other blogs yesterday as well :)

It’s important to update every time because most of the time, WordPress updates are meant for security purposes and of course some plugins that were updated might not work anymore if you don’t update the main platform, right?

But before you upgrade don’t forget to make a backup of your files just to make sure everything’s safe – after all, it is always important to have back ups all the time. Upgrade your WordPress now :)
