Smart and Samsung Galaxy Note 2

This October 11, 2012 – Philippine Network Smart Telecom announced the new Samsung Galaxy Note 2 being available in public finally after the long wait.

Looks really enticing. I also looked for a specs comparison of it from the Samsung Galaxy Note. It seems that there’s a very little difference.

Samsung also announced about Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini which will be out in the market on November (not sure about Philippines release date though) and it will be like the affordable Samsung Galaxy S3 with little differences most probably. This makes you have a lot of selection for the coming Christmas!

Samsung Galaxy Pocket

So here’s another entry-level phone from Samsung which also runs Android OS. I’ve seen this phone in flesh too and as usual with their designs, it’s similar to Samsung Galaxy Y and the others. But of course it’s “pocket size”

So far, I think it’s plus against the others is that it’s memory which is 3 Gigabytes of memory. For an App lover, that’s indeed the best that they offered. It costs around 6k to 8k php. Finally, the whole information of specs:

Overall, I think Galaxy Pocket isn’t much but not too bad for a person seeking an android phone that’s not too bulky to bring.

Samsung Galaxy Y

Samsung Galaxy Y or Samsung Galaxy S5360 is a level-entry phone from Samsung that’s one of the most bought lately (because it’s price is highly affordable)

It’s specs is somehow similar to Samsung Gio and Samsung Galaxy Mini along with other Samsung Galaxy phones. It’s price ranges from 4k to 5k (about $120 to $150). The specs aren’t bad as well since you can play games (although I was told some games do not work) Although the screen is small, plus the memory isn’t much. We all know how Android phones tend to depend on memory of the phone, so if you plan to download and install many applications this phone is not for you. Here is the complete information of the specs:

Microsoft Surface Tablet

Just yesterday,  Microsoft unveiled their first ever tablet which they call the Microsoft Surface Tablet. According to tech pros, it looks really sleek and something that can be compared to iPad however, it was also said that it will be on wifi only at the moment. Nevertheless, here are the specs. It comes in two versions.

Windows RT, light weight but with kick-ass specs.

  • 676g
  • 9.33 mm thick
  • 10.6″ ClearType HD DIsplay
  • 31.5 Wh battery
  • microSD, USB 2.0, Micro HD Video
  • Office Home & Student 2013 RT, Touch Cover, Type Cover
  • 32 GB, 64 GB

Windows 8 Pro, almost same specs with Windows RT but a bit more “pro feel”

  • 903 g
  • 13.5 mm thick
  • 10.6″ ClearType Full HD Display
  • 42 Wh battery
  • microSDXC, USB 3.0, Mini DisplayPort Video,
  • Touch Cover, Type Cover, Pen with Palm Block
  • 64 GB, 128 GB

Maybe after all, Windows/Microsoft stand a change against Android, Blackberry and Apple. My only theory is, they won’t succeed that quick as developers of apps and games are still glued to the said other two competitors.

Samsung Galaxy Gio S5660

I recently blogged about Samsung Galaxy Mini 2, and now I will be blogging about Samsung Galaxy Gio S5660. It’s not a new model but a relative of mine wanted me to know if it was good. So, here’s our breakdown.

Samsung Galaxy Gio

Samsung Galaxy Gio

Samsung GALAXY Gio is a mid-range Android 2.2 offering which has a 3.2″ 320×480 pixels display, and it has the same 800MHz chipset of the Galaxy Ace. Other features include a 3MP camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, microSD card slot and FM radio.

Specs:

Specs are not comparable to new Samsung Galaxy devices (including Samsung Galaxy Mini 2) it’s somehow near Samsung Galaxy Mini. It comes with Froyo 2.2 which is quite outdated. Actually, I haven’t heard about it much in the mobile scene as much as Samsung Galaxy Y or the minis so this is why when my relative asked me, I didn’t know about it.

Price

I researched through dbgadgets.multiply.com and its price is 10,100 PHP. Something near the Samsung Galaxy Mini 2, in my opinion, I would rather get the Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 because of the 4 gig internal memory but then again maybe this phone has other good features.

Overall

This phone is a-okay. But then again you should research more. According to websites with reviews I’ve read, like common Samsung smartphones that are currently out (which are within the budget) it does not have a very good camera, what fun is Instagram if your phone isn’t good in terms of picture taking? :)
