Facebook Problem: Cannot Interact with Pages

“Copy and paste these boxes on a comment to this post and see what happens”

It all started with a line similar to that, there was this post from a page I liked that seemed fun as I saw my officemate did what it said and got cute smilies to show up. So, I tried this little magic he did and this is what happened to me:

Facebook, restricting me to interact with pages

Facebook, restricting me to interact with pages

First, I was actually redirected to a page saying that something wrong that seemed to have to do with security have occured (the likes that you get when Facebook suspects phishing and such). I let it off because I thought it was a joke until the next day…

I cannot comment on pages anymore..

I cannot comment on pages anymore..

I’m joining this contest everyday where in, you share the post, like it and then comment to have the chance to win. However, in this case I got this message every time I wanted to comment. I thought it was just the page but to my horror, it happens on any Facebook page.

When you click on “please let us know” it would take you to a page wherein you can describe the conflict you are facing and also explain why you think they should lift the ban on your account with interacting with pages. That would be cool, I know right!

But Facebook won’t answer. Not a bit, so after hours of research, I got to about 3-5 threads in their help center saying the culprit of this was those mystery boxes that we’ve thought were cool. No more smilies for me as Facebook hasn’t done anything about this so far.

I'm not alone in this world

I’m not alone in this world

There had been many replies to this thread posted by someone (I hid it for privacy) up to now and everyone’s waiting if it will somehow be fixed or be forever as some of the accounts no longer has that “end date” (mine too!) But we’re hoping it will certainly be fixed because it’s too much of a hassle to create a new Facebook account.

So the fix to this? To have Facebook know what’s going on. I can’t explain how frustrating it is but I’m just waiting patiently and considering it as a “detention” even though there’s actually no reason, it’s pretty bad.

Mysterious Facebook Invitations in Emails

Are you an active Facebook user? I’m pretty much the average compared to the hard-core ones who seem to go online on it 24/7. I especially do not use chat because I’m so lazy. What caught my attention though is this.

Facebook Invite

Facebook Invite

Just so you know I trimmed some parts of the name because I want to make it confidential. I usually get this on my other emails because I didn’t sign them up on Facebook (I only have about 2 Facebook accounts, one being the most active, one for hosting client purposes) Of course, it usually comes from someone.

But in this case, I got this email from my own Facebook account (main one) which made me wonder because for one, I didn’t send this invite!

Isn’t it conspicuous? It makes me wonder, I thought these invites were being sent voluntarily. I guess now I know why Facebook grew so fast.

iOS 6 Features

Some days ago, I’ve read that iOS 6 is indeed in the works and developers were already seeing traces and bits of the said OS for Apple Gadgets.

According to Techradar.com, here are the most of changes in iOS 6

New maps
- It’s in 3D mode and it “looks beautiful” plus it is integrated to Siri so you can ask questions whenever you need to get to a place such as when asking the nearest restaurant and etc.

Facebook Integration
- So, after Facebook’s sulking over this issue (the reason why everyone who posted via Apple devices were “via mobile” they say..) Facebook is now integrated like Twitter is. Integration of Facebook events is also now applied.

Phoning Up
- The Do Not Disturb feature, this way no sounds nor screen light ups will occur when activated. It is automatically put on when a person calles within the 3 minutes. You can also set a reminder to call someone based on your location (neat isn’t it?) such as when you are heading to a place (i.e your house)
Groups in contact list is now possible as well.

FaceTime and Safari
- Now, FaceTime works even if you aren’t on Wifi. Also, it’s connected to your apple ID. So in case you want to switch to your iPad from getting a FaceTime call from your iPhone, you can accept the call on the iPad and vice versa.
- You can now save pages to read later (no more need for apps, great!) plus you can now upload photos directly from Safari, at last.

And for sure, there are many other surprises. Are you looking forward this change?

Facebook Deactivation

Goodbye for now, Facebook.

Goodbye for now, Facebook.

I deactivated my Facebook account yesterday evening. I wanted to keep Li-low from Facebook status and I wanted to focus on things I needed to do.

I remember reading once that online lurkers have this kind of tradition when they would keep away from all gadgets and be offline at least for a day – after all, too much is not always good. We need to take some time and rest from all the online happenings LOL.

And that’s what happened to me yesterday. I’m planning to keep it deactivated for about a week or so. I hope I get to do that though, people are starting to look for me and wonder why my Facebook account is gone. He he he.

ADHD Society of the Philippines’ Crusade

When I got home, I noticed one of my classmates posted a message on my Facebook status – I ignored it at first since I didn’t really believe in chain letters and then she messaged again “Uy, ikaw rin” (in English “Hey, try it too!)

Be Anime-zed

So, I gave it a try.

And this is it

Me with my Anime DP

Before I posted, I read it very carefully until I realized that it’s something that we shouldn’t look over. Also, I realized it was one of the reasons Facebook-ers were using cartoon pictures. I thought it was some “bringing back Friendster madness” (remember, during Friendster days people didn’t like using their own pictures.) But anyway, as it says

Let us support the ADHD Society of the
Philippines’ crusade to denounce violence against children. Change your
current profile picture to your favorite childhood cartoon character.
This will last until December 6, 2010.

It would be great to participate to take part in the fight for violence against children, not just Filipino children but all the children in the world. You just have to change your DP (Display Picture) or Primary Picture to one of your favorite cartoon during child hood.

My first picture was Snoopy, then I just changed it to Lime of Saber Marionette. Let’s all hope that those children that are abused and are maltreated will be heard.

Just think of it, you were once a child. How would it have been if it was you in their place?
