Chat ON!

Birthday girl ate Mara shared this to me a few weeks ago and it’s were we’ve been chatting. She’s a blogger/website designer/techie girl like me who loves tweaking her gadgets. She was also a Blackberry theme artist before!

Anyway, she shared me about this amazing chatting application Chat ON.

Chat On!

Chat On!

Pretty much like Kik Messenger but much cooler! As of now, it is available on iOS and Android platforms – soon to Blackberry OS I believe. I thought it was only for Android users, but was amazed to find out that it was also available for iOS. However, using it with an Android device there are some differences – there are missing smilies in the iOS version and also the animation message feature.

Chat ON is fun!

Chat ON is fun!

You register with your mobile phone number though and not obtain any pin/username. But it works just fab! You should try it now, it’s really cute! You can download it via Appstore and Android Market.

How to check-in Foursquare using your computer

Foursquare

Foursquare - check-in here! How using the computer?

I suddenly remembered this because a friend asked if you could only check-in Foursquare via your smartphone. Well, there is a way I found out while I was on my internship because I was too lazy to grab my phone one time!

So, this is how to check-in Foursquare using your computer:

1. Go to their mobile website with a browser of course!

m.foursquare.com

2. Log-in with your account.

3. Choose your place…

And I believe you’d know what to do afterwards that will follow because it’s self descriptive :)

There it goes! The only downside is of course, there’s no fancy interface and the points for some reason is lesser compared to when you’re using their app. If anyone knows another way, kindly share!:)

What is a dedicated or static IP?

Just purchased my first ever dedicated or static IP yesterday! However, it’s not setup yet. Oh well, they say it’s good for your website to have one so I went on having one. It made me want to have one for my VPSes.

In my understanding, a dedicated IP is when you are giving an IP only used by you even if you are on the same host with other blog or website owners. You see, within a shared hosting account which is within a reseller, which is within a master reseller and which is on a server (long withins, I know but it’s how it goes) an IP is given and assigned. Thus, you and those who are hosted on the same place have one IP address which is used by your host.

However, you have the choice to select an IP which is only usable by you – in other terms, that will make you unique over others, it is addressed only to you and it identifies only you.

Well, I hope this step of me getting a dedicated or static IP will provide me new things to learn because as of now, it’s an experiment for me. To tell me the truth, it’s kind of costly but like they say, you will never learn if you never invest :)

Must Have Cydia Packages/Tweaks

Okay, while waiting for my friend to finish her edits with her blog (because I’m fixing some stuff on ze layout I made for her) I’m going to continue my plan to post my must-have Cydia tweaks because this will serve for me as a list of my tweaks so I won’t forget. So happens I’m going to restore and reJailbreak again because of my clumsyness with this Erase Contacts from Cydia. That’s another story. No descriptions, it would take me forever to describe their wonders and uses. Haha!

5 Wonders of Google that amaze me

There are many reasons why I love Google. But today, I will at least give 5 wonders of google that amaze me. So timely, I’m currently organizing my contacts which is synced to my Android phone, which I will also sync to my iTouch and Blackberry phone.

1. Search Engine, Page Rank,Google Adsense

I discovered a lot of things because of Google’s ever powerful search engine. I know Yahoo! Search Engine existed earlier than it did but when my mom told me Google gives better information back then when I was young, there was something that really made me trust Google compared to it. Other than it’s job giving you information, page rank exists to let you know which sites are trust worthy and also, make money out of it. Not to forget Google Adsense is also here that leads you to other potential websites of relevant topics, also bring a huge money for SEO practitioners.

2. Gmail, Gtalk

Okay, it doesn’t mean I don’t love my Yahoo! email but admit it – Gmail has so much greater use than Yahoo’s email. It’s more user friendly, and right now, I am loving the option to sync contacts. I wish I did this before earlier. The Gtalk is also nice, I don’t use Yahoo! Messenger as much as before too. Other than that, I can also connect my domain emails through it with a little tweak in the settings, and as well as use them as emails whenever I want to, just as long as they’re set as aliases.

3. Google+

I’m not a fan of this feature much, in fact I’ve been deleting all my Google+ accounts. What my plan actually is to create a new one formally (I had to many active accounts!) The features are awesome though, especially because it also has web conferencing that’s very useful for people who want to keep in touch even if they’re apart from one another with no need of installing a standalone software and open it all the time (referring to Skype)

4. Google Chrome

I used to be more of a Mozilla Firefox fan but after awhile I started using Google Chrome more compared to it. So now, it’s my main browser! It could be faulty some times, but it’s easy to use especially after the applications came along! Installing was easy-peasy. You can even play Angry Birds and other games in it.

5. Android OS

Need I say more?  Ever since this smartphone OS phenomena, everything in the mobile world has leveled up. The games, the productivity applications, the automatically syncing of contacts, calendar and other services came in which is really handy. And there’s so much more possibilities that are continuing to be discovered.
